A Legacy of Jewelry & Entrepreneurship

Built on generations of experience, The Family Jewels continues a tradition that began nearly a century ago.

The Rediker Legacy

Born in Brooklyn, the Rediker brothers — Albert, Joseph, and William — brought their trade to the Jersey Shore in the late 1930s, establishing what would become one of the most recognized jewelry names in New Jersey.

The venue hosted the era’s most celebrated Big Bands — including Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Harry James, Vaughn Monroe, and Les Elgart — earning recognition from Billboard as “the lush summer band stop on the East Coast.”

As entertainment evolved, so did the Redikers. They brought leading vocalists of the time to the stage, including Tony Bennett, Frankie Laine, and The Platters. In 1956, they introduced one of the first rock and roll performances to the venue — a pivotal moment that marked a cultural shift in American music.

Beyond Convention Hall, the Redikers owned and operated numerous landmark properties throughout the area, including the Casino, Monte Carlo Pool, Cavalier Motel, and several beachfront pavilions — along with Storyland Village in Neptune.

As proprietors of Reeds Jewelers, they built the largest chain of jewelry stores in the state, with locations spanning Asbury Park, Long Branch, Red Bank, Freehold, and beyond. Their reputation was founded on craftsmanship, trust, and an entrepreneurial vision that extended far beyond jewelry.

In addition to their retail success, the Redikers became central figures in the cultural and business landscape of Asbury Park. From 1946 to 1956, they operated Convention Hall, transforming it into one of the premier entertainment destinations on the East Coast.

Their legacy was defined not only by business success, but by vision, innovation, and an ability to shape an entire community.

Continue the Legacy

Today, that legacy continues through a new generation.

As the grandson of Albert Rediker, The Family Jewels was built on the same principles that defined Reeds Jewelers — trust, quality, and direct relationships. While the model has evolved, the philosophy remains the same: deliver exceptional diamonds without unnecessary markups, and provide a personalized experience rooted in expertise.

Luxury, reimagined for a new generation of buyers.
